The 2006 Greenmarket season is underway with farm-fresh goods available in two locations on Staten Island:
- the municipal parking lot on Hyatt Street in St. George, Saturdays from 8am - 2pm
- the Clark Avenue parking lot, Saturdays beginning July 8 from 8am - 3pm
Every Sat and Sun - Animal Presentations
Each weekend at 1pm, the SI Zoo will be featuring some of their fun educational animals in a "talk" and "touch" presentation on the Zoo stage. Come one and all to interact, question and learn about the world of animals. For more info call SI Zoo, 718 442-3101

Free Golf and Tennis Lessons; Track and Field
CityParks Foundation is sponsoring free beginner lessons for boys and girls ages 5-16 for golf, tennis and swimming lessons at various locations on Staten Island throughout the summer. Also, there will be track and field as an added addition. The following is the July schedule:

Free Swimming Lessons
Parks & Recreation and the City Parks Foundation, with the support of the American Red Cross, is pleased to announce the kick-off of this year's annual Learn to Swim program. This is a free instructional program that teaches tots (ages 1-1/2 - 5) and children (ages 6 - 14) basic water safety swimming skills. There are two three-week Learn-to-Swim sessions, and one five-week session. A partial schedule is listed below. In addition, there is a five-borough swim champsionship for children and teens. Parks & Recreation is holding its sixth season of outdoor swimming-training for the annual Five-Borough Championship swimming competition. This program will train swimmers, organize teams and run the Championship competition to be held on Saturday, August 12 at Hamilton Fish Pool in Manhattan.
Youth between the ages of 6 and 18 who can swim 25 yards in reasonable good form will be able to participate. Locations and training times vary depending on the borough and pool. For more info call 311.
Champsionship is on August 12.
Calling All Lap Swimmers
The 24th Annual outdoor Adult Lap Swim program will begin on July 5, giving adults the chance to take to the water for health and fitness at designated times without interruption. Participants who swim 25 miles or more over the summer will receive a free t-shirt; distance prizes will also be awarded.
