Report Cards Just In . . . DID YOUR TEEN PASS?

With first report cards just in, parents can gauge if their children are doing well academically, or if they need some extra help.

If your teenager is on a failing track, you may want to explore a free, after-school tutoring program for intermediate school and high school students, ages 11 to 17.

The Project for Academic Student Success (PASS), provides academic tutoring by licensed Master's-level Department of Education teachers for students who are in a pattern of school failure that puts them at risk for behavioral problems, truancy, and/or substance abuse. Individual and small group tutoring in reading, social studies, writing, math, and other subjects is offered, as well as homework assistance, computer lab, life skills training, drug prevention counseling, and recreational activities.

To encourage better family relations, workshops covering issues pertinent to adolescents are periodically offered to parents.

Applications for tutoring services are available at:
South Shore PASS office
3974 Amboy Road • Great Kills
718-966-1296
and
North Shore PASS
4 Slosson Terrace • St. George
718-720-6727

PASS is a program of the Staten Island Mental Health Society.
