Beautiful Waterfront Venue
October 20th & 21st 2006

The second annual Downtown Drive-In Movies, featuring five fabulous films on a 40’x80’ inflatable screen, is scheduled for the weekend of October 20th and 21st. It will take place in a beautiful waterfront venue at the Staten Island Yankees Parking Lot in St. George, under the backdrop of the glittering NYC skyline.

A Drive-In is so much more than a movie – it’s an event that audiences are eager to re-experience. It’s the comfort of having the kids in their PJs and not worrying if the baby should cry; it’s the lure of being able to grab a kiss with your sweetheart in the dark; it’s the freedom to joke and laugh with your buddies without being ejected from the film; or grabbing a snack without missing a second of the action on screen – and it’s a uniquely American experience. The Downtown Staten Island Council is staging this exclusive event to highlight Downtown SI as a vibrant destination for all Staten Islanders.

This fun-filled weekend kicks off on Friday, October 20th at 7:30 pm with Disney and Pixar’s The Incredibles (Rated PG). This film is an action packed comedy that is sure to be a hit with parents and children alike. Later in the evening, the venue shifts focus to a more adult crowd at 10 pm for Rent (Rated PG-13), the film adaptation of the award winning Broadway musical.

Saturday, October 21st, the Drive-In offers three exciting films. Starting at 7:30 pm, join Indiana Jones in his first epic adventure in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (Rated PG). See this action adventure classic the way it was meant to be seen—on the big screen. Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth will follow at 10:00 pm. The Drive-In will wrap up with the cult classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Rated R) at 12:00 midnight.

Load up the car with family and friends and come down to Downtown SI for a trip back in time to the classic family drive-in. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets are only $20 per carload and will be available at the gate.

The Downtown Staten Island Council (DSIC) is a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 commercial and community development organization dedicated to the continued revitalization of the downtown business district, Bay Street corridor and the neighboring communities.
