Whether you want to introduce your child or yourself to the joys of playing an instrument, developing vocal talent or taking your skills to the next level, the Dorothy Delson Kuhn Music Institute has the depth and range of instruction you are seeking. The Music Institute has been a powerful stimulus to music on Staten Island for more than 40 years.

Faculty members and students of the Dorothy Delson Kuhn Music Institute are active in the cultural life of the community. They teach in Staten Island schools and colleges and they are performers and conductors for ensembles and orchestras locally and throughout the New York City area. Students learn in a non-competitive atmosphere. The Music Institute is a non-profit and non-sectarian music school. It is the only member of the National Guild of Community Arts Education on Staten island.

    Participants make a large-scale machine that demonstrates how waves work using wooden dowels, duct tape, and gummy candy. We will also demonstrate a simple oscilloscope that uses a laser beam to show how sound waves look. For ages 13 -18
