Join the Urban Park Rangers and the Staten Island Zoo for a cleanup of Conference House Park, followed by a hike to collect data for the 2021 City Nature Challenge. The City Nature Challenge is happening from April 30 to May 3. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 City Nature Challenge will not be focused on competition but will instead embrace the healing power of nature and celebrate tens of thousands of people all around the world, searching for and documenting their local biodiversity, together in this event. Participants will make observations and record data using iNaturalist. Participants are encouraged to download the iNaturalist app onto their mobile device, prior to the event for an interactive experience.
Registration is required. To register, visit the Urban Park Rangers Registration page beginning Wednesday, April 21.
Please note: We are offering outdoor programs with limited attendance so that you can have a safe and enjoyable time in parks. Based on New York State guidance for sports and recreation during COVID-19, we’ve put protocols into place to keep our participants and staff safe and healthy. We’re asking everyone to help us stay safe:
- Stay home if you’re sick
- Maintain six feet of physical distance between households
- Wear a face covering
- Wash your hands
Additionally, we encourage participants to bring their own hand sanitizer to our programs.
