Event Details
This summer 10-miler in memory of environmental activist Richard Buegler begins at Staten Island’s Willowbrook Park, a protected space for wildlife that is one of Staten Island’s most popular Greenbelt parks. With sylvan expanses, Willowbrook Park invites exploration of its woods, and a place for many species of birds to take advantage of the five-acre lake to nest and eat. A Protectors of Pine Oak Woods guide will lead participants through the park to LaTourette Park before returning to Willowbrook Park. Participants will explore the heart of Staten Island while enjoying a moderate loop hike in the Greenbelt with Protectors. This peaceful summer walk through the lush woodlands of the Greenbelt with Protectors allows visitors to experience local wildlife while gaining knowledge of the natural world. Meet at the Carousel parking lot located at 2 Eton Pl, Staten Island, and enter on Eton Place from Richmond Avenue. Bring lunch, a beverage and a snack. Dress appropriately and wear comfortable shoes. The walk level is moderate. For more information call Hillel at (718) 477-0545.
