Event Details

Did you know that you can visit or view 10 different lighthouses without ever leaving Staten Island? Join volunteers and staff of the National Lighthouse Museum on Sunday, October 25th, 2020 from 10 AM – 3 PM for a day of exploration, made possible by the generous support of ConEdison.

Given the challenges of the current pandemic, The National Lighthouse Museum is proud to host an event that will bring together the community in a socially-distant and responsible fashion, to learn about Staten Island’s rich lighthouse history. This event is family-friendly and can be experienced as a scenic car-ride, motorcycle ride, or bicycle-tour, with short walks at each stop to observe and learn about lighthouses on the island, as well as those off-shore. The lighthouse hunt (which covers approximately 25 miles of local terrain) is self-guided – with the aid of maps and directions provided in event packets distributed at the beginning of the hunt. Participants may begin or end from either the grounds of the National Lighthouse Museum on the North Shore (200 The Promenade at Lighthouse Point SI, NY 10301), or The Conference House in Tottenville on the South Shore (7455 Hylan Blvd., SI, NY 10307). At each stop on the hunt, participants will receive proof of their visit from museum representatives posted at each location.

Admission for the event is $30 per car, or $15 per motorcycle or bicycle. All proceeds will directly support the operations of the National Lighthouse Museum, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, whose mission is to preserve the historical legacy of lighthouses. Each participant who completes all designated stops will receive a raffle-ticket making them eligible to receive free-admission to an upcoming museum boat tour ($75 value). All participants will receive a free admission to the National Lighthouse Museum on the day of the event, a certificate of participation, and a free commemorative gift of the day.
