The main goal of Building Blocks Montessori School is to develop your child’s confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. We began in 1972 as a nursery school, which soon expanded to the elementary level. It is comprised of a lower school for preschool and kindergarten and an upper school for 1st to 5th grades. We also offer before and after-school programs and flexible scheduling for the lower school.

Our lower school offers programs for children between the ages of 3 and 5. The Building Blocks Montessori School classroom is a richly prepared environment of multisensory materials that provides a planned sequence of developmental activities. These concrete materials illustrate abstract concepts and help your child build a foundation for future learning. It is a child-centered classroom, where your child will develop the joy of learning.

There is a small pupil-to-teacher ratio with mostly individualized instruction, with the teacher acting as a guide. The children choose their own work, set their own pace, and advance at their own rate. Our classes also have a mixed age grouping in which the younger children learn from observing and working with older children, and the older children will reinforce their own skills by helping their younger classmates.

At Building Blocks Montessori School, we cultivate your child’s own natural desire to learn. The upper school provides a stimulating environment that builds on the foundation set in the lower school, but with an added emphasis on academics. Textbooks are used along with advanced Montessori and other materials. The children continue to advance at their own rate, with individualized goals and curriculum tailored to meet their different learning styles and needs.

We promote a non-competitive and supportive environment for your child. Small group meetings in all subjects are an integral part of upper school for instructions and discussions.
