Six Flags Fright Fest is Back this September!

Prepare to be scared! Even though we’re still in August, Halloween is around the corner and will be here before you know it. This means it’s also time for Six Flags Fright Fest, one of the season’s spookiest events, which is returning to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J., in early September.

The scary annual festival will be open on select nights, Sept. 8-Oct. 31, so save the date…if you dare!

What To Expect At Six Flags Fright Fest In 2023

The approximately eight-week Halloween-themed festival will kick off Sept. 8. Admission includes many festively decorated areas and attractions for kids and families. Live entertainment is part of the lineup, including the park’s signature “Dead Man’s Party.”

Fright Fest is fun for all ages, but parents should use their discretion when bringing younger children and toddlers.

Speaking of all-age fun,  Six Flags Fright Fest will also include Boo Fest for younger kiddos that’s a little less scary but still lots of fun! Boo Fest will run on select dates from Sept. 15 to Oct. 29. This event features family-friendly trick-or-treating, fall festivities, character photo opportunities and treats. More information about Boo Fest will be announced, so check the website for updates.

These are the Scare Zones at Six Flags Fright Fest in 2023

The event’s famous scare zones make up a big part of the spooky fun lineup:

  1. Clown Town: Tormented by multiple rejections, the clowns of Clown Town will set out to terrorize the society who mocked them.
  2. Pirates: This pirate crew has sailed their ghost ship to the lakefront. Watch out for creatures that have the souls of those who’ve walked the plank.
  3. Bloody Fountain: The grounds at the Bloody Fountain are haunted by the victims of the Jersey Devil.
  4. Demon District: These demons will torment anyone who enters their city.
  5. The Conjuring: More spooky info TBA!

Haunted houses are part of the fun at Six Flags Fright Fest, too, but you’ll need the Haunted Attractions Pass for the experience. Haunted houses include: Saw X; The Conjuring; Aftermath; Bloodshed; Reflections of the Dead; Big Top Terror; The Manor; and Fears.

Six Flags introduced Hallowfest in 2020. It featured a variety of activities and socially-distant scaring to keep guests safe during the pandemic. The event was successful, but according to park staff, people were eager the following year for the traditional Fright Fest experience to come back.
