Cool Off at Snug Harbor’s Sprinklerfest

It sure is hot outside! But here’s some cool news: Sprinklerfest at Snug Harbor is back for 2023!

Sprinklerfest at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden returns this year on Friday, July 21, 12-4pm. Held on Snug Harbor’s sprawling South Meadow lawn, the event is a fun way for kids to stay cool on a warm summer day as it features over 30 sprinklers to run and jump through.

In addition to the refreshingly cool water sprays, families will enjoy browsing summer-time food vendors, playing lawn games and listening to music, all while meeting fellow Staten Islanders during an exciting day of fun in the sun.

“Snug Harbor is such a great place to visit because there’s so much to do here. But this is an event that is super fun for the kids,” Eric Hagmueller, senior director of marketing and brand experience at Snug Harbor, said.

Event organizers are hoping for a nice warm sunny day for Sprinklerfest. But nonetheless, the event is rain or shine—for the most part.

“What’s interesting about this event, too, is that we’ll continue to do it if it rains,” Hagmueller said. “But we will cancel it if there’s severe thunderstorms.”

After splashing through sprinklers, attendees can round out their day of outdoor fun by exploring Snug Harbor’s scenic grounds. Set on a sprawling 83-acre campus dotted with trees, gardens, museums, historic architecture and so much more, Snug Harbor provides a delightful experience that families and kids of all ages enjoy.

Sprinklerfest at Snug Harbor is funded in part by NYS Assembly Member Charles Fall and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. The event is free to attend, but registration, which is available online, is required.

Can’t make Sprinklerfest at Snug Harbor but still want to have a cool summer? Check out these sprinkler and spray shower parks and public pools on Staten Island, as well as local beaches that provide plenty of opportunities for kids to have outdoor fun.
