Staten Island’s South Shore Little League Headed to the World Series

Staten Island’s South Shore Little League has made it to the World Series! The team achieved an impressive 5-0 victory over the Morristown Little League from New Jersey in the Metro Region championship game last week, securing their spot in the 2024 Little League World Series. It’s been 60 years since a Staten Island team claimed a victory at the prestigious global tournament, and the borough is ready for the losing streak to end.

With a remarkable summer record of 17-2, South Shore is truly demonstrating its strength and determination. This will be their fourth appearance in the esteemed Little League World Series.

Dubbing the team “The Boys of Summer,” Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella is encouraging the community to support the young athletes, hosting a watch party at Fast Break on 236 Richmond Valley Road in Tottenville for their first game this Thursday. Admission is free, and doors open at 2 pm.

In a heartfelt message on Facebook, Fossella expressed his unwavering support, encouraging the team to keep creating amazing memories and continuing to make the entire Staten Island community proud.

The South Shore Little League headed to Lamade Stadium for the Little League World Series and faced off against Nevada on Thursday, August 15th. The Staten Island community stood in proud support at the watch party organized by Vito Fossella. The team worked hard on the field but Nevada ultimately gained an opening-round victory against the South Shore Little League resulting in a 9-1 score.

What now? The South Shore Little League will face off in one more game against South Dakota, representing the Midwest Region. This game will be an elimination game in which the winner will advance to another game on Sunday at 9 am.

Where to Watch: ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC are set to air all 38 matches of the 2024 Little League World Series. Fans can catch the games via streaming on ESPN.com, ESPN+, the ESPN app, or Fubo.

Wishing the best of luck to the South Shore Little League! You got this!
