NYC Kids Eat Free This Summer at NYC Parks, Pools, and Libraries

Find free local meals near you this summer.

This summer, children and teens up to 18 years old will be able to eat for free at local parks, pools, including Central Park’s newest Gottesman Pool, food trucks, and libraries across the city.

The initiative comes as part of the city’s Free Summer Meals Program, a citywide service that provides free breakfast and lunch to all children and teens aged 18 and under throughout the summer. The program aims to ensure that no child in New York City goes hungry while school is out.

The program runs from June 27th to August 29th and is available at multiple locations across the five boroughs. A sign-up is not required, and children can walk into the participating locations. Meals, however, must be eaten on-site.

“We are thrilled that our summer meals program is returning this year, making sure that our youngest New Yorkers are fed and nourished,” says Jenna Lyle of the New York City Department of Education. “We are proud to host hundreds of sites across the five boroughs, offering free breakfast and lunch to any person 18 or younger.”

Now running for a few consecutive years, the summer meals program has worked to combat food insecurity across the city. According to the New York City Council, food insecurity rates range between 5% and 32% in New York City Neighborhood Tabulation Areas. New York City has a high poverty rate, with the Bronx accounting for almost 30% and Brooklyn following at almost 20%.

The summer meals program will be available in multiple locations and will also offer Halal options. See below for some of the locations or head to the official summer meals site for the full list.
