Gary Perone
For Gary Perone, the General Manager of the Staten Island FerryHawks, baseball has always been a way to unite people. This Saturday, September 6, he plans to embody that spirit even more by shaving his head to support children and families fighting pediatric cancer.
“This evening is about much more than just the game,” Perone expressed. “It’s about standing in solidarity with children and families as they face their hardest battles. Buzzing my hair is merely one way to remind them that they aren’t alone—that our team, our fans, and our whole community stand beside them.”

FerryHawks Calling on their Fans
To amplify this effort, the FerryHawks will donate $5 from each ticket sold to the Brian Halpin Pediatric Cancer Center, and the team will raise funds throughout the game to support the cause. Fans will also witness the last fireworks display of the season, lighting up the Staten Island sky in a celebration of courage, hope, and unity following Perone’s buzz cut. The FerryHawks are calling on their fans to fill the stands and turn the night into a true representation of community strength.
