CrimsonRise teaches Spelling to Communicate (S2C) as an alternative means of communication to nonspeaking (nonverbal) people with autism. It is a method that teaches the purposeful motor to point to letters on a letter board or keyboard.

The incidence of autism currently stands at 1 in 36 children in the United States (according to the CDC), an estimated 35% of whom have minimal or no capacity to speak and communicate. The story of CrimsonRise resonates in the silence of an estimated 50 million nonverbal (nonspeaking) autistics around the world – people who live without communication, underestimated by everyone around them.

CrimsonRise is an organization that is the very first of its kind – an organization co-founded by 4 nonspeaking (nonverbal) autistics and their allies. At CrimsonRise, nonspeaking autistics have a voice and a seat at the table to ensure that the motto of the autism community – “Nothing about us, without us” – becomes a reality.

Services provided:
– One-on-one S2C sessions to enable spelling to communicate as an
alternative method of communication.
– Fellowships – where spellers can interact with other peers and allies
– Studio – a day program for spellers that runs all year.
