Lincoln Center Summer for the City presents Brazil Week: Dance Storytime With Ingrid Silva As part of Summer for the City’s Brazil Week, the Library for the Performing Arts has invited Brazilian dancer Ingrid Silva to read her children’s book A bailarina que pintava suas sapatilhas, or The Ballerina Who Painted Her Ballet Shoes. The book tells the story of Silva’s journey in ballet, from her childhood in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro to her experience at the Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York, when she became a leading dancer and known worldwide. Silva tells how she faced racial and social prejudice and inspires children to discover themselves through her journey showing that dance is for everyone. Wednesday, July 16, 11 am & 1 pm. All ages. Writing Workshop with the Authors of Mrs. Z’s Class! Session 1 If your young reader has a passion for storytelling – or if they’re looking for something new and exciting to try this summer – this is their opportunity to explore the world of writing. Join the authors of the Mrs. Z’s Class series for free workshops for budding writers! Free Youth Basketball Clinics Join Brooklyn Bridge Park for basketball clinics led by KING Hoops, NYC’s premier youth basketball organization.
