Here’s Where Kids Can Take Cooking Classes on Staten Island

Kids love to help out in the kitchen, whether by measuring ingredients, stirring sauce or frosting a cake. Why not foster your kids’ love of the culinary arts by enrolling them in kids cooking classes on Staten Island? At these classes, kids learn the basics of cooking while connecting with peers who share the same interest. The Italian Cultural Foundation At Casa Belvedere

The Italian Cultural Foundation at Casa Belvedere celebrates everything Italian! It offers a variety of public programs, including kids cooking classes. Children learn to make lots of fun dishes including classic Italian cuisine and sweets such as s’mores bars and cheesecake. Check the website to see what’s planned at upcoming classes.

Staten Island Children’s Museum

WHEN: Varies; The next workshop is on Saturday, Jan. 20, sessions at 11:30am and 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30pm.
PRICE: Free with museum admission, which is $8.
The Staten Island Children’s Museum offers so many fun events for children to enjoy, including ShopRite Kidz Cook workshops. This is a caregiver-and-me program that introduces kids to a diversity of foods, explains cooking concepts and helps build dexterity with cooking utensils. The next workshop on Jan. 20 will show kids how to make fruit kebabs and yogurt dip. Delish!

Owners Richard and Karen Steinmetz offer a variety of cooking lessons for kids. Private lessons for four-week programs, weekly after-school classes and monthly Saturday specialty themed classes are available. Young chefs make dishes such as pasta with vodka sauce, vegetable fried rice and desserts like sugar cookies and chocolate-covered strawberries. Birthday party packages are also available.

Based in New York City, the school offers a variety of cooking classes online. Participants choose a menu from the website, receive a shopping list for ingredients, and then the fun begins. All classes culminate in a full meal for the family to enjoy together!
