Get ready for the holiday season with the return of the NYC Winter Lantern Festival on Staten Island! It’s coming back this year and will take place at SIUH Community Park in St. George.

The festival’s theme this year is “Journey to the East” and will feature more than 1,000 illuminated displays of hand-made Chinese lanterns. Available from Oct. 21, 2022, through Jan. 8, 2023, visitors can walk and wander through a world inspired by Chinese myths and legends. One particular highlight will include the dazzling 50-foot-tall lantern display of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King.

Spread across five acres, other displays will include an animal kingdom, sea world, theme park and brightly lit tunnels. Visitors will also be able to ride illuminated swings, enjoy lots of food options and have great opportunities throughout the festival this holiday season.

Created by Kaleido Arts & Entertainment Group, the festival has additional locations throughout the metro area in Queens and Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

“Lantern festivals have been a part of Chinese culture and history for thousands of years, honoring our ancestors and celebrating peace, prosperity, and good fortune,” Haokun Liu, Partner of Kaleido Arts & Entertainment Group, said. “We are thrilled to bring back the NYC Winter Lantern Festival, now in its fourth year, expand to new locations, introduce all visitors to the beauty of these artisan installations, and have the show become part of New York’s cultural holiday tradition.”

Throughout all of the festival sites across the city, the NYC Winter Lantern Festival will feature over 10,000 hand-made Chinese lanterns created by over 100 artists.

Tickets are available now at winterlanternfestival.com. For a limited time, a 30% discount is available through Nov. 11 with the promo code “EARLYP.”
