Halloween is certainly the most chilling time of year. And on Staten Island, many homeowners take that spooky factor to the next level. Here’s our guide to some of the best Halloween-decorated houses on Staten Island. But brace yourself, because some of these local haunts will make think you’ve left your cozy hometown and entered a portal of pure darkness and terror.

Complete with grizzly ghouls, killer clowns, Chucky, zombies of all sizes and so much more, these houses will have you in goosebumps and jumping back in fear at every twist and turn.

Love Halloween houses? So does Daniel Rand, creator of Staten Island Halloween Houses, a Facebook group that highlights some of the most decked out Halloween haunts. Rand is a huge Halloween fan from Staten Island who’s won many costume and decoration contests over the years.

“I built the page so everyone can showcase their houses. And the best part about it is that everything is free. We don’t allow any paid professional Halloween attractions,” Rand said. “I love Halloween, it’s a lot of fun. I love doing this for the people of Staten Island.”

The page also includes information about the best times to see some of these local haunts and lots of cool pictures and videos.

If you want even more Halloween thrills and chills and seasonal fun, don’t forget to visit our online calendar of events. And now, check out these Halloween houses…if you dare.

The Best Halloween Decorated Houses on Staten Island

Eerie Eltingville

Location: 235 Preston Ave. Get your scare on at this horrifying haunt. You’ll experience an 8-foot werewolf, lots of hairy spiders and spooky creatures and characters who belt out screams of horror. It’s even scarier at night, so you might want to go during the day if you have younger kids. Photo credit: Gerard Lennon

Haunting on Heenan

Location: 161 Heenan Ave. It’s time for movie madness! Meet your hosts, a couple of 12-foot skeletons who are just dying to show you around to meet their fellow cast mates: Freddy Krueger, Beetlejuice, Frankenstein’s monster, the Scream guy and a lot more. Swing by a terrifying butcher shop before you leave—if you have the guts. Photo credit: Paul Buono
