JCC of Staten Island Hosts Annual SunriseWALKS & Carnival to Benefit Children with Cancer
Pssssttt… Check Out: 15 Staten Island Museums That Are Great For Families
Get ready for an amazing day! This coming Sunday, June 22, the Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island is thrilled to present the much-anticipated SunriseWALKS & Carnival! This exciting event is the organization’s biggest annual fundraiser, all in support of the Lucille & Jay Chazanoff Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island—an incredible free summer camp tailored for children battling cancer and their siblings. Join the fun from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, located at 1131 Manor Road. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to make a difference!
The community is invited for a delightful stroll around the beautiful campgrounds, and it only gets better from there with a fantastic family carnival! There will be an exciting lineup of attractions, including bounce houses, exhilarating slides, fun face painting, a talented DJ, live entertainment, and chances to meet your favorite costumed characters like Bluey, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Chase from Paw Patrol, and Stitch from Lilo & Stitch! Plus, delicious food and beverages will be up for grabs!

Entertainment will include special performances by the Richmond Terrace Dance Team, SI Elite All-Star Cheer, and the Wagner High School Marching Band, as well as a Krav Maga demonstration by Chai Defense.
Proceeds from the event will support Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island, which provides a summer camp experience completely free of charge to over 160 children ages 3½ to 16 each year. Operated by the JCC and a proud member of the Sunrise Association, the camp is dedicated to bringing back the joys of childhood to children affected by cancer and their siblings. The program recognizes the intense financial burden families face during a child’s illness, offering a full summer of fun and connection at no cost.
This year marks a major milestone as Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island enters its tenth summer. With a record number of campers expected, the JCC emphasizes the importance of community support to ensure that every child can experience the magic of camp.

“As we enter our tenth summer at Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island, we’re excited to make this our best summer yet for our amazing campers who have been through so much,” said Orit Lender, CEO of the JCC. “None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our community. We’re excited to come together on Sunday at SunriseWALKS and have a great time for a great cause!”
Tickets for the SunriseWALKS & Carnival are available online or at the event for just $20 per family. All families, children, and supporters are encouraged to attend and help make a difference in the lives of local children and their families.
