Introducing Sofia
Sofia Braccia is 9 years old and heading into the 4th grade. She’s full of energy and creativity, and she loves dancing, shopping, trying new beauty products, swimming, and practicing her gymnastics flips.
Sofia’s love for jewelry making started as a fun hobby with her older cousin. Together, they would sit for hours making bracelets and then set up shop in front of her grandma’s driveway, selling to neighbors. Before long, Sofia was even taking custom orders and personally delivering them on her little pink Vespa around her neighborhood! From the start, she’s been independent, social, and a natural salesperson. The fashion and beauty side comes from her mother, Serena Braccia, and the business traits she proudly gets from her father, Frank Braccia.
Sofia’s Support
Some parents may be reluctant to hear that their 9-year-old wants to start their own business, but not Serena and Frank Braccia. Her parents were thrilled to support her passion. What began as a way to keep Serena off her iPad and away from social media has turned into something so much more valuable: a hands-on learning experience. Sofia’s parents believe that some of the best lessons in life come from doing, and this little business is teaching her responsibility, confidence, and communication. As long as she keeps up with her schoolwork, her parents will continue to stand by her side, offering guidance, resources, and encouragement. Serena and Frank love the chance to be present, make memories, and share the joy of watching her creativity shine.
Sofia just recently made her table debut at the Marina Cafe on August 27th at their “Shoppin at Marina Cafe’s Tiki” event. Sofia was beyond professional, friendly, and outgoing, and sold a ton of gorgeous bracelets and accessories.
This story is truly inspiring for both young children and parents. It is so important to support today’s youth by embracing their creativity, wonder, and passions. We are wishing nothing but success for all our young and inspiring entrepreneurs here on Staten Island!
