Introducing Sofia
Sofia Braccia, a 9-year-old 4th grader and child entrepreneur, is full of energy. When she’s not creating jewelry, she enjoys dancing, swimming, gymnastics, shopping, and experimenting with new beauty products.
Sofia’s love for jewelry making started as a fun hobby with her older cousin. Together, they would sit for hours making bracelets and then set up shop in front of her grandma’s driveway, selling to neighbors. Before long, Sofia was even taking custom orders and personally delivering them on her little pink Vespa scooter around her neighborhood! From the start, she’s been independent, social, and a natural salesperson.
Sofia’s Support
Sofia’s talent for fashion and beauty comes from her mother, Serena Braccia, and the business traits she proudly gets from her father, Frank Braccia. While some parents may be reluctant to hear that their child wants to be an entrepreneur, Serena and Frank were thrilled to support their daughter’s passion. What began as a way to keep Serena off her iPad and away from social media has turned into something so much more valuable: a hands-on learning experience. Sofia’s parents believe that some of the best lessons in life come from doing, and this little business is teaching her responsibility, confidence, and communication. As long as she keeps up with her schoolwork, her parents will continue to stand by her side, offering guidance, resources and encouragement. Serena and Frank love being present, making memories, and sharing the joy of watching Sofia’s creativity shine.
Sofia recently made her table debut at the Marina Cafe on August 27 at their “Shoppin at Marina Cafe’s Tiki” event. Sofia was beyond professional, friendly, and outgoing and sold a ton of gorgeous bracelets and accessories.
This story is truly inspiring for both budding kidpreneurs and their parents. Supporting today’s youth by embracing their creativity, wonder, and passions is essential. We are wishing nothing but success for all our young and inspiring entrepreneurs here on Staten Island!
